Job Description

As a Climate Change & Energy Specialist, you will manage and deliver accurate, timely, and compliant reporting under key Australian frameworks. You will interpret complex legislation, guide internal stakeholders, and ensure our business meets obligations while driving transparency and accountability.

This role will be rewarding and will include:

  • Prepare and submit accurate reports under NGERS (National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme), GHG emissions, AASB S2 Climate-Related Financial Disclosures, and Safeguard Mechanism requirements. Ensure adherence to Australian financial reporting standards for greenhouse gas emissions and energy use.
  • Support the continuous improvement and delivery of AASB S2 disclosures. Assist in integrating climate-related data into financial planning and reporting frameworks, ensuring alignment with corporate sustainability goals.
  • Establish robust internal controls and assurance processes for emissions data and climate scenario analysis. Develop and maintain systems for accurate data collection, validation, and reporting. Coordinate with stakeholders to capture energy and carbon emissions into digital reporting systems.
  • Manage audit readiness and collaborate with external stakeholders, including auditors and consultants, to achieve best practice standards. Ensure documentation and evidence meet regulatory and assurance requirements.
  • Interpret and apply relevant legislation, standards, and frameworks to operational and reporting processes. Stay informed on emerging trends in climate-related financial reporting and regulatory changes, proactively updating practices.
  • Engage with internal teams to promote understanding and ownership of climate and sustainability initiatives.
  • Provide expert advice on climate change, energy efficiency, and emissions reduction strategies. Prepare quarterly progress updates for executive leadership.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in an Environmental (Sustainability) field.
  • Extensive experience in environmental and/or sustainable development within resources industry with preference for coal mining experience, which will be highly regarded.
  • Internal company experience or familiarity with our systems and processes is highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation, including Commonwealth/State Offset policies.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills will ensure your success in this role

  • Centrally located in our Brisbane CBD Corporate Office, close to train bus and ferry connections.
