Job Description:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads the design, analysis, and coordination of HVAC and mechanical systems for complex projects. This role provides the opportunity to apply advanced technical expertise, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the continued growth of the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and coordination of mechanical (HVAC) systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related infrastructure
- Perform and review load calculations, energy modeling, and system sizing using industry-standard tools
- Develop and oversee plans, specifications, and construction documents in compliance with applicable codes and project requirements
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings for conformance with design intent and regulations
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
- Conduct site visits and field observations during design and construction phases
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to develop cost-effective, energy-efficient HVAC solutions
- Stay current with California Mechanical Code, Title 24 Energy Standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and emerging technologies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 7 years of progressive mechanical design experience
- PE license or ability to obtain licensure
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC analysis software such as Trace 700, HAP, or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of California Mechanical Code, Title 24, and HVAC best practices
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proven experience mentoring staff and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
