Job Description:
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design, analysis, and coordination of electrical systems for complex building projects. This role involves technical leadership, mentoring junior staff, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to the continued growth of the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and coordination of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, communications, and low-voltage systems
- Perform and review load calculations, short-circuit studies, voltage drop analysis, lighting calculations, and energy code compliance documentation
- Develop and oversee electrical plans, specifications, and construction documents in compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings for conformance with design intent and regulations
- Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior engineers and designers
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and civil disciplines
- Conduct site visits and field observations during design and construction phases
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to develop cost-effective, energy-efficient, and code-compliant solutions
- Stay current with California Electrical Code, Title 24 Energy Standards, NFPA requirements, and emerging technologies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive electrical design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP, or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of California Electrical Code, Title 24, and life-safety systems
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to mentor staff and lead projects in a multidisciplinary environment
- Passion for high-performance, energy-efficient building design
