Job Description:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer at 120 Degreez, you will be responsible for leading the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems for complex and high-profile projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply advanced technical expertise, guide project teams, mentor junior staff, and play an integral role in the continued growth and success of our firm.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and coordination of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, communications, and other low-voltage systems for a variety of building types.
- Perform and review load calculations, short-circuit studies, voltage drop, lighting calculations, and energy code compliance documentation using industry-standard software and methodologies.
- Develop and oversee electrical plans, specifications, and construction documents ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings to verify conformance with design intent, specifications, and governing regulations.
- Provide technical mentorship and oversight to junior engineers and drafters, promoting professional growth and ensuring consistency in design quality.
- Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and civil disciplines to ensure complete and conflict-free design integration.
- Conduct site visits and field observations during design and construction to verify installations, troubleshoot design challenges, and ensure project quality and accuracy.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to develop cost-effective, energy-efficient, and code-compliant electrical solutions that meet project objectives.
- Stay current with California Electrical Code (CEC), Title 24 Energy Standards, NFPA, and emerging technologies in lighting, power systems, and sustainable electrical design.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive electrical design experience, with demonstrated ability to lead projects from conceptual design through construction administration.
- PE license (or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or equivalent analysis tools.
- In-depth understanding of California Electrical Code, Title 24, and best practices for lighting, power distribution, and life-safety systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proven ability to mentor junior engineers, manage project deadlines, and coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams.
