Climate Projects Associate | Permanent | Dublin

Our client, one of Ireland's leading commercial law firms with a market-leading Climate Projects team, is seeking an ambitious Associate Solicitor to join their growing practice. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of international climate law, carbon markets, project development, climate finance and sustainability regulation.


You'll gain exposure to a broad mix of transactional, regulatory and advisory work across voluntary and compliance carbon markets, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, climate project development, carbon removals, sustainable aviation fuels, corporate climate strategies and emerging climate technologies.


Key responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating carbon credit purchase agreements, ERPAs, pre-purchase agreements, framework supply agreements and offtake arrangements
  • Advising climate project developers, investors and corporates on project development, financing and investment transactions
  • Legal and regulatory research on international climate law, carbon markets and evolving policy frameworks
  • Advising on regulatory developments including Article 6, CORSIA, the EU ETS and the EU Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming Certification Framework
  • Legal due diligence for climate project investments, acquisitions and financing transactions
  • Preparing client memoranda, regulatory briefings, board papers and strategic advice notes
  • Reviewing project documentation and advising on legal, regulatory and commercial risk allocation
  • Supporting host country engagement processes and Article 6 authorisation requirements
  • Monitoring market and regulatory developments and preparing client updates and thought leadership content
  • Client relationship management, business development, industry working groups and conferences


The person

Qualified solicitor in Ireland and/or England & Wales, with experience gained within a leading commercial law firm or relevant in-house environment. Experience in commercial contracts, corporate transactions, projects, energy, infrastructure, finance, environmental law, ESG or regulatory matters is advantageous but not essential.


Strong drafting, analytical and legal research skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and a demonstrated interest in climate change, sustainability, carbon markets and emerging climate technologies are key, along with the ability to manage competing priorities within a collaborative, fast-paced international team.
