Role Description

The Seed Orchard Director will oversee othe start up of a conifer seed orchard, ensuring sustainable practices and the production of high-quality tree seeds to support forest restoration efforts. Responsibilities include designing the seed orchard, managing orchard resources, supervising staff, maintaining adherence to safety and environmental standards, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve production and conservation goals. This is a full-time, on-site role based near Klamath Falls, OR.


Qualifications

  • Experience in forestry, plant science, or seed orchard management and knowledge of best practices in sustainable forestry and plant regeneration.
  • Skills in personnel management, team leadership, and staff training.
  • Proficiency in planning, organizing, and managing large-scale operations and projects.
  • Expertise in data analysis, orchard productivity tracking, and relevant research methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and experience effectively collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Familiarity with local ecosystems and forest conservation efforts is highly desirable.
