About Global Real Estate and Workplace Experience (GREWE)
Global Real Estate and Workplace Experience (GREWE) is the global team at American Express (Amex) responsible for the full lifecycle of planning, execution, and operations of Amex real estate. GREWE supports over 65,000 Amex colleagues and contractors in over eight million square feet of property located in 41 countries. Our real estate portfolio consists of large full-service campuses, office buildings, sales offices, and airport lounges. The sites may be owned, leased, or be occupied through a serviced space arrangement. Real estate is part of the broader Global Servicing Group organization which delivers shared business services to colleagues across the enterprise.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of GREWE ESG & Workplace Sustainability the ESG Manager will be responsible for supporting company-wide sustainability ESG reporting and compliance initiatives. In this role you will partner with key stakeholders including teams within GREWE, corporate sustainability, controllership, internal & external audit, legal, risk, technology, and Amex senior leadership. As the ESG Manager you will be a key member of the team that formulates, refines, and executes Amex’s ESG strategy, builds the associated ESG infrastructure and solutions, and provides recommendations to leadership to improve ESG initiatives. You will work cross-functionally to define, execute, and continuously improve Amex’s ESG programs and support team project management, key data collection, analytics, and reporting & compliance activities. The role requires (i) expertise in greenhouse gas data collection and calculation (ii) advanced project management and organization skills (iii) an ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in written and verbal form to stakeholders across the Amex organization.
This role is based in New York located at 200 Vesey Street. The role is full-time and assigned as “Hybrid” with the expectation to work from the office at least three days per week.
Job Responsibilities:
- Team PMO manage multiple projects and priorities, accountable for keeping team on track to meet deadlines and deliver on enterprise ESG and compliance commitments
- Subject matter expert on ESG data requirements, understanding what data is required and its purpose and stay up-to-date with the latest climate science and changes in compliance requirements
- Support the completion of all non-voluntary and voluntary ESG performance disclosures in which GREWE’s business activities are in scope.
- Maintain and update GREWE’s standard operating procedures and controls related to ESG data and reporting functions.
- Work with GREWE team and external partners to build the Amex internal ESG data repository to support enterprise wide ESG data management and reporting.
- Support data repository architecture and mapping, development of governance processes, integration of cross-functional data streams in partnership with other Amex business groups, and data library of ESG-related key performance.
- Ensure ESG data integrity and fidelity in data repository and enterprise reporting through initial and regular audits/analysis and ad-hoc data reviews as needed by GREWE and other Amex teams.
- Develop integrated tools and dashboards to facilitate strategic decision making and the reporting of sustainability performance to leadership, colleagues, and various external stakeholders.
- Provide analytical support and analysis such as cost benefit analysis for multiple GREWE sustainability special projects.
- Partner with a team of contractors dedicated to the delivery of the environmental sustainability function within GREWE.
- Contribute to the development and execution of a strategic plan that advances GREWE’s ESG goals and performance targets.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 plus years of strong project management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Strong attention to detail, expertise in designing and implementing systems for monitoring and managing ESG data.
- Minimum 5 years work experience in a global enterprise in a data analysis role is required.
- Advanced ability to analyze data from multiple data sources and draw/provide relevant and actionable conclusions and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills using Power Point including deck development and preparing presentation materials for leadership meetings.
- Ability to work in a global capacity and manage projects and programs with teams across multiple time zones.
- Ability to develop and maintain multiple strategic relationships across an enterprise and with external parties.
- Bachelor’s degree is required in relevant field. Prior work experience in ESG-related and/or real estate data analysis is preferred.
- Advanced experience with data analysis using Excel is required.
- Familiarity with sustainability certifications, renewable energy, climate risk, building systems, and benchmarking tools
- Working knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks, such as GHG Protocol, SBTi, CDP, GRI, PCAF, TCFD, and others preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using data management tools such as Microsoft Access and data visualization tools such as Tableau is preferred.
- Real Estate data analysis is preferred
Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually + bonus + benefits
