Position Summary

The Policy Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing ACP’s policy and advocacy priorities by providing operational and administrative support to the Energy Storage, Supply Chain, and Trade teams. Reporting to the Vice President of Energy Storage, the Coordinator ensures seamless committee operations, supports communications and member engagement, and contributes to cross-team projects that shape ACP’s clean energy agenda.

This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and the curiosity to learn about complex policy and market issues. The Coordinator will develop professional exposure to high-level policy conversations, gain experience working with member companies, and contribute to outcomes that directly advance the clean energy industry.

Committee Support & Engagement

  • Manage rosters of committee participants, responding to member requests and ensuring accuracy to build trust with members and strengthen engagement.
  • Schedule and manage invitations and calendars for committees, subcommittees, and working groups to ensure collaboration is purposeful and efficient.
  • Partner with committee leads to prepare and disseminate agendas, pre-read materials, and presentations in advance of meetings so participants are aligned and meetings are outcome-driven.
  • Capture notes and action items during calls; draft and distribute recap notes within 48 hours to drive accountability and follow-through across teams.
  • Maintain libraries of materials and resources in committee platforms (e.g., HigherLogic) to improve transparency and ensure easy access for members.

Policy & Research Support

  • Assist in tracking legislative, regulatory, and market updates relevant to Energy Storage, Supply Chain, and Trade to help ACP anticipate challenges and opportunities for advocacy.
  • Gather and organize background materials to inform conversations with policymakers and stakeholders to strengthen ACP’s credibility and subject matter expertise.
  • Support drafting and management of member input for agency comments or policy submissions to ensure member perspectives are integrated and ACP’s voice reflects diverse industry priorities.

Cross-Team & Event Support

  • Schedule internal and external meetings with member companies, policymakers, and consultants with clear, timely communication.
  • Assist with logistics for in-person and hybrid meetings, including venue setup, IT coordination, and materials preparation to ensure smooth execution and member confidence in ACP’s professionalism.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across ACP (e.g., State Affairs, Communications, Membership) to align on policy initiatives and member engagement activities.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure timely, accurate updates across databases, calendars, and committee records to support execution and reduce errors in day-to-day operations.
  • Contribute ideas for improving workflows, processes, and member engagement practices to demonstrate judgment, learning agility, and ownership of accountability.
  • Provide excellent and proactive customer service to members, staff, and stakeholders to champion ACP’s values of trust, collaboration, and inclusion.

Education, Experience, Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in energy, environmental studies, public policy, political science, or related field required.
  • 1+ years of experience or internships in government relations, policy/regulatory affairs, trade associations, or related professional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute assigned tasks with accuracy and consistency.
  • Evidence of strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with members.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to draft clear meeting notes and professional correspondence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn committee management systems (e.g., HigherLogic).
  • Learning agility and adaptability, with the ability to quickly grasp new systems, policy topics, and organizational processes.
  • Sound judgment in resolving routine issues and seeking guidance when appropriate.

Job Conditions

We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $55,000 – 65,000 annually. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs.
