Solar Commissioning Engineer
Job Description
Ameresco is looking for a Project Engineer-Commissioning Services to join Ameresco’s National Commissioning Team in the California/Arizona areas. The primary focus of the position will be to provide commissioning services to the growing portfolio of Solar/BESS projects being developed and constructed by Ameresco.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical and commissioning support services throughout the design, construction, and initial startup of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems. Work shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
Review designs including electrical plans and specifications for each system or unit.
Work with existing cold commissioning inspection forms, modify to fit project specifics.
Assist Project Managers in implementing construction phase commissioning tasks.
Perform field inspections, conduct or witness equipment startups/testing.
Complete hot commissioning tasks such as inverter start up, and DAS/SCADA verification, and thermal imaging of operating equipment.
Participate in project meetings to review status of commissioning.
Provide field reports and update Master List of Findings reports.
Coordinate with Project Managers and Electrical Subcontractors on completion of corrective actions.
Conduct electrical measurements using a multi meter and run IV curve tracing equipment
Prepare commissioning reports to communicate overall results.
Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS in Engineering
Minimum of 3-7 years relevant experience working in the field of solar design, construction, or operation and maintenance.
OSHA 10 for a minimum of 2 years
NFPA 70e certification for a minimum of 2 years
Additional Qualifications:
Solar design or construction of commercial and utility scale projects.
NABCEP certification.
Familiarity with the National Electrical Code.
Working understanding of electrical systems and controls.
MS Office proficiency required with Adobe, Excel and Word.
Strong verbal, written, computer communication and technical presentation skills.
Duties will require physical activity, including accessing roofs, climbing ladders, and lifting and carrying of up to 60lbs of equipment.
Valid Drivers’ License in good standing, issued by resident state required.
Air Travel required, balance of roughly 50% office – 50 % field. On site at project locations 3-5 days for Commissioning tasks.
