Join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the UK’s most exciting and largest megaprojects, while being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.

Following the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build in Suffolk that has secured planning approval and Government financing support. Construction has commenced, and the project is now seeking private investment. Once complete, SZC will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, supporting Britain’s journey to Net Zero by 2050 alongside renewable energy sources.

About The Opportunity

To provide environmental and sustainability leadership, promote best practice, and ensure the Sizewell C site and associated developments maintain compliance with environmental permits and licences.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide clear and concise leadership to direct reports and Tier 1 suppliers and you will report into the ‘Head of Site Compliance’
  • Ensure compliance with environmental commitments, permits, consents, and licences.
  • Manage, coordinate, and monitor environmental and sustainability activities on site to meet agreed standards.
  • Drive world-class environmental behaviour and culture across SZC teams and supply chain.
  • Identify and mitigate significant environmental aspects of the project.
  • Lead engagement with local environmental regulators, particularly the Environment Agency.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System Standard.
  • Oversee site environmental inspections, surveillance activities, and performance KPIs.
  • Investigate environmental events and implement performance improvements.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal teams, Tier 1 contractors, and regulators.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in environmental and sustainability performance.

Here's What You'll Need:

  • Degree in an environmental-related discipline.
  • Extensive experience leading E&S teams on large, complex, highly regulated construction projects.
  • Broad construction knowledge across full lifecycle (civils, mechanical, electrical, completions).
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills.
  • Detailed understanding of environmental permits, licences, and consents.
  • Knowledge of sustainability opportunities and challenges on major infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent organisational, assurance, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, with attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Extensive client and contractor-side experience managing environmental issues on large infrastructure projects.
  • Experience engaging with regulators and delivering regulatory commitments.
  • Familiarity with highly regulated industries and ISO 14001 compliance.
