Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately identify and sort different types of metal materials (e.g., aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, steel, etc.) based on grade.
- Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet company specifications.
- Greet and assist retail customers and manage incoming loads through the use of industry software.
- Ensure material is properly weighed, tagged, documented and placed in designated containers or storage areas.
- Handle inbound ticketing.
- Operate basic hand tools, magnets, and testing equipment to determine metal type and quality.
- Support material preparation and truck unloading activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Work safely and with integrity.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a scrap metal recycling facility.
- At least 1 full year of verifiable experience related to grading non-ferrous scrap metal for recycling.
- Basic computer and tablet ability.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, lift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or bend.
- Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
