Altum Consulting is delighted to be supporting an exciting, innovative and fast-growing international NGO in its continued development. Climate Arc is an independent non-profit working at the intersection of climate science and finance. The organisation exists to accelerate the flow of capital into climate-positive outcomes by turning complex climate data into actionable insights for investors, policymakers and businesses. They connect the dots between science and finance - enabling smarter, faster decisions that help drive a just, resilient and sustainable global transition.

As they continue to expand, Climate Arc is looking for a Management Accountant who will take a lead role in delivering accurate, insightful financial information that supports the organisation's ambitious mission.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is a hands-on and varied role that would suit a newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) who's confident managing the day-to-day but also enjoys stepping up to take on more.

After taking a leading role in bringing the accounting function in-house, you'll own the delivery of monthly accounts and reporting, maintain tight control over core finance processes and use Xero to its full potential, helping to automate, streamline and future-proof how things are done. This is a rare opportunity for someone who enjoys the balance of practical accounting and continuous improvementto have a real impact within a fast-paced organisation with an important purpose.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the end-to-end accounting cycle, including accounts payable, receivable and bank reconciliations.

  • Produce accurate monthly management accounts and support budgeting and forecasting.

  • Work closely with the Head of Finance to deliver insightful analysis and financial reporting for decision-making.

  • Use and optimise Xero, integrating tools such as Expensify and ApprovalMax to automate and improve processes.

  • Support system migration and integration projects as the organisation scales.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (non-SORP).

  • Support audit preparation and external liaison with advisors.

  • Assist with international reporting across US, Europe and Asia entities.

The ideal candidate

  • Newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong management accounting experience.

  • Confident handling the day-to-day - AP, AR, reconciliations - but keen to stretch into higher-level reporting and projects.

  • A Xero power user, ideally with experience connecting tools like Expensify and ApprovalMax.

  • International accounting exposure (multi-entity, FX or cross-border reporting) preferred.

  • SaaS or commercial experience useful, particularly with revenue recognition for software sales.

  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct would be a bonus but not essential.

  • Practical, proactive and naturally curious - someone who enjoys finding better ways to do things.

This is a chance to join a fast-growing organisation doing genuinely meaningful work in the climate finance space. Climate Arc combines the agility of a start-up with the purpose of a mission-driven non-profit. The Management Accountant will have plenty of scope to shape systems and processes, take ownership, and grow with the organisation as it evolves.

While this sits within the non-profit world, Climate Arc's commercial model allows them to offer competitive salaries and a dynamic, international working environment that sets them apart from traditional charities.
