Job Title: Senior Southeast Power Originator
Location: Houston, TX or Remote
Job Summary:
The Southeast Power Originator will spearhead the origination of power and renewable transactions across the Southeast, structuring complex deals, nurturing key counterparty relationships, and aligning opportunities with strategic objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify, structure, and negotiate short and long-term power origination deals including energy, capacity, and renewable contracts.
- Source flexible capacity (e.g., batteries, demand response, CCGTs) to balance portfolio exposure.
- Build and manage relationships with utilities, IPPs, marketers, load-serving entities, and industrial clients.
- Cross-functional collaboration across trading desks, credit, legal, finance, and management to drive deals from conception through execution and settlement.
- Support strategic development of the power origination business, aligning with corporate growth objectives and U.S. energy strategy.
- Ensure regulatory and compliance oversight throughout deal lifecycles.
- Mentor internal teams and enhance origination capabilities through shared expertise.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in power origination or business development within energy markets.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. power markets and familiarity with Southeast regions (e.g., utility territories, market structures).
- Proficiency in structuring PPA/offtake agreements, environmental products, and flexible resource deals.
- Strong sales, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills.
Technical+/analytical skillset including Excel, PowerBI, and financial modeling.
