About Alt Carbon:
Alt Carbon is a deeptech science and data company, building agri-infrastructure for climate action. We aim to make South Asia a hub for Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) through technology pathways like Enhanced Rock Weathering and Biochar. We work with farmers and scientists across the Global South to turn underutilized land into carbon sinks.
Our flagship initiative, the Darjeeling Revival Project (DRP), is a first-of-its-kind effort to unite climate action with cultural and ecological restoration - by reviving degraded soils, restoring livelihoods, and rebuilding ecosystems. This year, we also launched the Bengal Renaissance Project (BRP), a large-scale biochar program that is building a network of biomass banks, pyrolysis, and gasification plants across Eastern India, with a mission to weave hope back into the lands of India.
Rooted in science, powered by community, and driven by the belief that revivals require ambition and audacious bets, our mission is to remove 5 million metric tons of CO₂ by 2030.
About Biochar at Alt Carbon
Alt Carbon converts agricultural waste - crop residue, biomass - into biochar: a stable, carbon-rich soil amendment that improves farm yields while locking carbon underground for centuries. We produce at our facility in Bagdogra and are setting up new facilities in Telangana and Haryana this year.
The science is proven. The product works. We need someone to build the sales engine that gets it into the hands of farmers, dealers, and institutions at scale.
Role Overview
There is no existing sales team. There is no existing playbook. You are building both from scratch - across three channels (direct farmer, trade, institutional), three geographies (North Bengal, Telangana, Haryana), and an ambitious revenue target.
This role is for someone who is energised by that sentence, not intimidated by it.
What You’ll Do?
1. Direct Farmer Sales
- Build last-mile sales channels and drive biochar adoption at the farm level
- Work closely with the Community vertical to turn farmer relationships into sales opportunities
- Own farmer acquisition, conversion and re-purchase
Outcome: Farmers in our programme geographies see biochar as a default input, not an experiment.
2. Trade Channel Development
- Identify, onboard and manage agri-input dealers and distributors across North Bengal, Telangana and Haryana
- Build trade partnerships that create pull, not just distribution
- Set pricing, margins and channel terms that hold at scale
Outcome: A functional dealer network that moves product without requiring our direct involvement in every sale.
3. Institutional & B2B Sales
- Identify and pitch corporates, co-operatives, and bulk buyers who can absorb significant volumes
- Manage institutional relationships end-to-end - from first conversation to contract to repeat order
- Work with the Labs vertical on carbon credit linkages where relevant
Outcome: At least one institutional channel per state that provides revenue predictability across the year.
4. Revenue Ownership & Sales Ops
- Own the revenue number - not the activity, the outcome
- Forecast accurately, flag risks early, and close gaps proactively
- Build a sales playbook that is replicable across geographies
- Coordinate with production partners on supply availability and demand alignment
Outcome: Predictable, scalable revenue across all three channels and geographies.

- You are a builder - no playbook exists yet and that excites you, not worries you
- You own the number. Not the activity. The difference matters to you
- You are comfortable in the field - significant time across North Bengal, Telangana and Haryana is non-negotiable
- You can work across three very different sales motions simultaneously without losing focus on any
- You are systems-minded - everything you build should work at 10x without breaking
