Green Power Business Development & Investments
Lausanne, CH - 100% | Full time
About The Role
Role type: Permanent | Location: Lausanne, Switzerland | Model:
| Level of travels: 40%
Our Company
Alpiq is one of Switzerland’s leading electricity producers and a key energy services provider across Europe. Headquartered in Lausanne and powered by a strong portfolio of hydropower, nuclear, and renewable energy sources, we’re all about impact, for the climate, for people, and for the security of supply.
More than 1,300 colleagues from nearly 60 nationalities bring their energy to a shared purpose: Together for a better climate and an improved security of supply.
We work in a values-driven culture shaped by trust, curiosity, and respect. Our 4 company values have been co-created with our employees and are embedded in everything we do as a company:
“We are ALP1Q “- reflects our team spirit
“We learn and grow together” - we have courage
“We share the steering wheel” - we take ownership
“We focus on the outcome” - your impact matters
At Alpiq, your energy matters!
The Opportunity
Join Alpiq's Green Power Business Development team to originate, evaluate and advance renewable energy and flexibility investments across Europe, including battery storage, pumped-storage hydropower and renewable generation. Reporting directly to the Head of Business Development, you will take ownership of selected projects from screening through development, investment approval and transaction execution.
This is a hands-on role for someone who combines investment expertise with delivery. You will master each project's economics, commercial structure, risks and execution requirements, do the detailed work yourself and drive it forward with internal specialists and external partners.
Your Main Responsibilities
You are a doer: accountable, pragmatic and comfortable moving between detailed analysis and external discussions. You identify what matters, propose workable solutions and deliver without constant direction. Curiosity, integrity, constructive challenge, collaboration and a low-ego approach matter as much as technical expertise.
We focus on outcomes, share the steering wheel and encourage curiosity. Different perspectives are welcome. Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every requirement: skills can be developed, while motivation and the right mindset are essential.
Disclaimer: Please note that applications submitted by agencies or third-party recruiters will not be considered unless the agency is part of our Preferred Supplier List (PSL).

Your Main Responsibilities
- Screen and prioritize opportunities; develop a clear view on value creation, strategic fit and whether to proceed, reshape or stop.
- Build, review and own financial models, valuations and investment cases, testing revenue assumptions, capital costs, financing, returns and downside scenarios.
- Analyze European power markets, regulation and competing projects; translate market intelligence into practical investment recommendations.
- Develop commercial and transaction structures, including acquisitions, partnerships, co-investments and tolling arrangements, working closely with M&A and trading.
- Prepare and drive commercial negotiations with developers, investors and advisers, supported by legal and relevant specialists.
- Lead due diligence and cross-functional coordination across finance, M&A, trading, engineering, legal and local development teams; resolve issues and close actions.
- Draft concise Executive Board and investment-committee papers, with clear economics, risks, open points and decisions requested; distinguish negotiation conditions from internal approval requirements.
- Own project plans, budgets, milestones and governance; maintain an accurate pipeline, escalate blockers early and follow through on approvals and execution.
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in business development, investments, M&A, infrastructure or corporate development; a relevant degree, with an MBA preferred.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience across financial modeling, investment papers, commercial structuring, negotiations, due diligence, market analysis and project delivery.
- Strong understanding of energy or infrastructure investment economics; renewable generation, storage and European power-market experience is an advantage.
- Ability to independently own projects, challenge assumptions, exercise commercial judgment and deliver through cross-functional teams.
- Advanced Excel and strong PowerPoint and written communication skills; able to turn complex analysis into clear recommendations.
- Full professional fluency in English; French, German, Italian or Spanish is strongly preferred. Eligible to work in Switzerland and willing to travel across Europe.
