Regional Project Development Manager - Large & Medium-Scale Microgrid

About the Role

AlphaESS is expanding its large and medium-scale microgrid business across Southeast Asia. We are looking for a Regional Project Development Manager to originate and develop microgrid and hybrid power projects across the region.

The role focuses on large and medium-scale microgrid applications, particularly for mining, remote industrial, captive power, large C&I and other energy-intensive customers.

You will identify and develop project opportunities, build relationships with customers and strategic partners, understand customers’ power and energy requirements, and work with our technical teams to develop integrated solutions combining BESS, solar PV, grid supply, diesel/gas generation and EMS/PMS.

This is a regional project development role. Candidates with established industry networks and proven project exposure across multiple Southeast Asian markets will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Originate and develop large and medium-scale microgrid and hybrid power projects across Southeast Asia.
• Identify project opportunities with mining companies, mineral processing facilities, smelters, large industrial customers, industrial parks, remote facilities and other energy-intensive customers.
• Build and leverage relationships with mining operators, power-generation companies, large genset suppliers, EPCs, system integrators, energy developers and local partners.
• Engage customers to understand their existing power infrastructure, load profiles, electricity and fuel costs, reliability requirements and energy-transition objectives.
• Work closely with engineering teams to develop integrated microgrid solutions combining BESS, solar PV, diesel/gas generators, grid supply and EMS/PMS.
• Develop techno-commercial business cases covering diesel displacement, renewable integration, energy-cost optimization, peak shaving, backup power and energy resilience.
• Drive projects from origination and opportunity qualification through solution development, commercial proposal, pricing, negotiation and contract award.
• Coordinate with regional and global engineering, product, EPC and delivery teams throughout the project development process.
• Develop strategic partnerships and regional ecosystems to access new microgrid opportunities.
• Monitor regional project pipelines, customer investment plans, market trends, competitors and relevant regulatory developments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in project development, business development or solution sales within power generation, energy, mining, industrial infrastructure, microgrids or related sectors.
• Proven experience in developing medium- to large-scale energy or power projects.
• Strong existing business network in at least one of the following:
• Mining / mineral processing / smelting
• Large industrial and energy-intensive customers
• Large diesel/gas generators and distributed generation
• Captive power / remote power / hybrid power
• Industrial EPC / power infrastructure
• Proven ability to originate project opportunities and drive them toward commercial closure.
• Experience with microgrids, BESS, hybrid power, renewable energy or distributed energy solutions is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of industrial power systems and the integration of BESS, renewable generation and conventional generation.
• Exposure to medium-voltage power systems is advantageous.
• Regional exposure across Southeast Asia and experience developing customers/projects in multiple markets are highly preferred.
• Strong techno-commercial, project economics, proposal development and commercial negotiation skills.
• Strong English communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Southeast Asia and other regional project locations.
