Heavy Equipment Operator - Construction - Base Salary to 40.00/hour - East Brunswick, NJ

• Our client is a private, New Jersey based Environmental Construction Company specializing in Landfill Construction, Operation, Maintenance, Remediation and Renewable Energy projects. Their principals have a combined, seven decades of experience in the Solid Waste, Brownfield Remediation and Renewable Energy Industries, advising and serving both foreign, regional, municipal government agencies and a variety of private sector organizations.
• The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy construction equipment to support site development, excavation, grading, demolition, and material handling activities. This role requires strong attention to safety, equipment maintenance, and coordination with site supervisors and crew members to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to specification.

Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, skid steers, compactors, and dump trucks
  
• Perform earthwork activities including excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and material placement
  
• Read and interpret site plans, grades, and stake layouts
  
• Conduct daily pre-operation inspections and report mechanical issues promptly
  
• Perform basic routine maintenance (lubrication, fluid checks, cleaning)
  
• Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies and procedures
  
• Work closely with laborers, foremen, and project managers to coordinate work activities
  
• Maintain productivity while minimizing material waste and rework
  
• Ensure work is performed in compliance with environmental regulations and site-specific requirements
  
• Keep accurate daily logs of equipment usage and work performed

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
  
• Experience operating heavy construction equipment
  
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety standards
  
• Ability to read construction drawings and grade stakes
  
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  

Compensation:

• Base salary to 40.00/hour
