The Alliance for Renewable Electrification (Home - The Alliance for Renewable Electrification) is the global industry platform that federates and supports renewable energy companies to win business, shape policy and scale deployment across emerging markets.
ARE operates across Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America & the Caribbean.
The new Communications & Marketing Officer, who will report to the Director of Communications & Marketing, will play a pivotal role in implementing ARE's strategy, with a focus on implementing our events, growing the ARE brand and providing services to our members.
Main Responsibilities
Communications & Brand
- Manage ARE's social media channels
- Lead B2B communications for ARE's projects, events, campaigns and webinars
- Assist in producing the bimonthly ARE Newsletter
- Support brand positioning efforts and optimise website content for SEO
- Keep content on the ARE website up to date
- As ARE's communications function develops, lead active communications efforts, including media engagement, drafting public statements, and supporting ARE's positioning in the sector
Events & Commercial Development
- Support the organisation of ARE's events — including its flagship event (ARE Energy Access Investment Forum in Kenya) as well as other events throughout the year — covering communications and marketing, commercial development, and logistics (e.g. procurement, liaising with service providers and participants, and managing the event platform and participant lists)
- Develop and sell marketing products (e.g. sponsorships, advertising space, member packages) that generate revenue for the association
Research & Insights
- Conduct weekly market intelligence research
Team & Administrative Support
- As the team grows, support the training and supervision of junior staff or interns, based in Brussels or remotely
- Provide ad hoc administrative support
Profile
- University degree in event management, marketing, communications, sustainability, or a
- related field - or equivalent experience
- Must have the right to live and work in Belgium
- 4-5 years of experience in a similar role
- Experience with renewable energy and/or emerging markets, as well as knowledge of the EU, is desirable
- Proactive mindset with strong attention to detail
- Available for 1-2 trips to Africa/Asia annually to support on -the -ground activities; occasional additional work travel may be required (less than 10% of working time)
- Able to deliver clear, concise work even under time pressure
- English at C2 level is essential; French is strongly desirable, and knowledge of additional
languages is a plus
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong IT proficiency, including WordPress, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
amiliarity with HTML/CSS is an advantage
- Basic graphic design skills (e.g. Canva, Photoshop, Affinity)
