About The Pprogramme

GET.invest (https://www.get-invest.eu/) is a European programme that supports investments in clean energy projects in partner countries. It is implemented by GIZ on behalf of the European Union, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria, and is part of the GET.pro platform (https://www.global-energy-transformation.eu/). The programme contributes to the European Union’s Global Gateway and focuses on sub-Saharan Africa, as well as selected activities in the Caribbean and Pacific.

GET.invest combines advisory services, market intelligence, stakeholder engagement and targeted mobilisation to help clean energy projects and companies access financing. In this context, communication plays an important role in positioning the programme, supporting donor visibility, promoting services and results, and ensuring consistent, professional communication across a wide range of stakeholders and channels.

For our office in Brussels we are looking for an experienced Communications Advisor (m/f/d).

The Communications Advisor will play a central role in shaping and delivering the programme’s communications across editorial and operational dimensions, working closely with the Head of Communications on high-visibility communication at the interface of clean energy, investment and international cooperation. The role combines substantial ownership of core communication products and channels with close interaction across technical teams, country windows, donors, partners and external service providers.

YOUR TASKS

  • Lead the planning and coordination of editorial content across key communications channels, including the website, social media, newsletters and other internal and external communication formats.
  • Draft, edit and quality-assure communication materials in English and German, like news articles, social media content, presentations and other communication formats, ensuring consistency with programme objectives, institutional positioning and donor visibility requirements.
  • Contribute to impact communication and results storytelling, such as the preparation of stories, visibility materials and annual results-related communication products.
  • Coordinate communication activities with programme partners, donors, country-level stakeholders, industry associations and peer organisations in relation to joint activities, events and publications.
  • Support and coordinate communication for country and regional windows, in close exchange with GIZ country offices and local partners.
  • Coordinate recurring communication products such as donor mailings and market intelligence updates, for example liaising with technical teams and external service providers.
  • Manage external communications service providers, covering briefing, contract-related follow-up, quality assurance and delivery oversight for writing, design, web and other specialised services.
  • Oversee selected operational communication tasks, i.e. management of image and quote libraries, compliance with GDPR and copyright requirements, data-sharing tools, and procurement and delivery of physical communication materials for events.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities in line with programme needs and candidate expertise.

YOUR PROFILE

We are looking for an experienced communications professional with strong editorial judgement, a high level of precision, and the ability to translate complex topics into clear and effective communication in an international context. The role requires someone who works well in a dynamic and multicultural environment and who combines strategic awareness with close attention to detail.

  • Master’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, political science, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in communications, ideally in institutional, strategic or multi-stakeholder programme contexts.
  • Excellent drafting and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and political content into clear, concise and audience-appropriate communication products.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating communication across multiple channels and formats, covering digital communications, editorial products and donor- or partner-facing materials.
  • Experience in working with international stakeholders, service providers and institutional partners; experience in multi-donor or international cooperation contexts is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of branding, visibility, editorial quality control and communication compliance requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of digital communication tools and platforms, including WordPress, LinkedIn and MS Office; familiarity with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite is an advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a structured and reliable manner.
  • Strong interest in clean energy, private-sector mobilisation and international development cooperation is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English required; German is a strong asset; Portuguese is an advantage.

What We Offer

We offer a limited contract with GIZ in Brussels under Belgian law (PC200), ideally starting in November 2026. The position will be remunerated according to the level of experience. In addition to the legal holidays, you will receive 5 extra days of holiday per calendar year, as well as lunch checks, health insurance for hospitalisation, the reimbursement of a monthly ticket for Brussels public transport and the possibility of home office in accordance with our respective policy.

As the working place is Brussels, only applications for candidates eligible to work in Belgium will be accepted. We will contact selected candidates directly to arrange for an interview within the next few weeks.

We won’t send acknowledgements of receipt or rejection letters to applicants that are not shortlisted.
