We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our Group Climate & Sustainability Risk department under Group Risk Management division as an Assistant Vice President, Group Climate & Sustainability Risk.

The Role

A successful candidate in this position will be accountable for the following:

  • Work with Group Climate & Sustainability Risk team to build infrastructure to manage climate and sustainability risks across the Group.
  • Work with Group Climate & Sustainability Risk team and Group Sustainability & Strategic Partnerships to introduce and enhance climate and sustainability risk management capabilities across the Group.
  • Work with Group Risk Management Risk units to ensure climate and sustainability risk management is incorporated in the management of the respective risk types.

Job Description

Risk Infrastructure & Framework Development

  • Build climate & sustainability risk management infrastructure
  • Develop frameworks, policies, sector guidelines, and risk assessment tools

Regulatory Implementation & Strategic Initiatives

  • Drive CRMSA, stress testing, and regulatory requirement implementation
  • Execute initiatives to align with evolving regulations and best practices

Risk Process & Analytics Enhancement

  • Improve risk management processes, analytics infrastructure, and tools
  • Enhance efficiency, quality, and compliance of risk capabilities

Climate Data Management & Analytics

  • Source, process, and analyse internal and external climate data
  • Support reporting, scenario analysis, stress testing, and disclosures

Data Quality & Governance

  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness
  • Perform data validation, cleansing, and proactive issue resolution

Risk Monitoring & Mitigation

  • Identify emerging climate/sustainability risks and define mitigation actions
  • Continuously assess risk landscape and update internal approaches

Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

  • Prepare and deliver climate risk reporting and insights
  • Communicate performance to internal and external stakeholders

Advisory & Technical Support

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert/reference point for business units on climate risks
  • Provide technical support and ad hoc sustainability analysis

Project & Change Management

  • Lead and execute projects, managing resources, risks, and stakeholders

Continuous Improvement & Market Alignment

  • Track evolving global and local developments
  • Enhance frameworks in line with best practices

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Guide and support junior team members to ensure quality delivery

Governance

  • Present, deliberate and clarify on climate/sustainability risk related policies/issues/reports during the management and Board level committees, including Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC), Group Sustainability Committee (GSC), Executive Risk Management Committee (ERMC), and Group Risk Management Committee (GRMC).
  • Address governance requirement of risk management tools, policies etc for the management of climate and sustainability risk.

Skills

Job Requirements

  • Proficient in Proficiency in Excel, data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), data management
  • and analysis languages (e.g. SAS, SQL, Python, etc)
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting standards and sustainability metrics related financial services space
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with aptitude for logic
  • Effective communication skills both written and oral
  • Good leadership, interpersonal skills and project management ability
  • Resourceful and adaptable i.e. ability to work in a changing environment
  • Excellent planning and organization skills to meet objectives and tight deadlines

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Risk Management functions/ issues/ best practices
  • Knowledge of key regulations e.g. FSA/IFSA, BNM guidelines on climate change and sustainability, etc
  • Knowledge of banking products and laws
  • Exposure to global trend in climate change / sustainability development

Experience

  • Graduate with at least 4 years’ experience in banking and financial industry, or consultancy exposure, in credit risk management, project management, climate change risk management data analytics, Environment, Social and Governance (ESG)
  • Awareness of best practices and market trends in climate risk and sustainability and/or related areas
