Akerman LLP seeks a Transactional Regulatory Associate with 3 to 6 years of experience to join its growing energy team within the Corporate Practice Group. This position will support a broad range of transactional and regulatory matters for clients in the energy sector, including utilities, public power entities, renewable developers, large end users of power (e.g., data centers), and investors. Responsibilities will include drafting and negotiating project contracts, conducting due diligence, preparing and supporting regulatory filings and compliance (primarily at the Federal level, although some State compliance issues may occasionally arise), advising on matters such as power purchase agreements, interconnection and transmission service agreements, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issues and proceedings, and assisting with project finance and M&A transactions involving energy assets. Excellent research, writing, analytical, and contract drafting skills are required, as well as strong attention to detail and client communication skills. This position can be located in any Akerman office. Akerman offers remote and hybrid work arrangements. Candidates must have a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school, and bar admission or eligibility to obtain admission promptly in the jurisdiction of resident office location. Prior Am Law 100 law firm experience preferred.
