A leading AmLaw ranked international law firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Energy Transactions team in Houston. Alternate office locations may be considered depending on business needs and candidate experience.

This is an opportunity to join a growing and well-established energy practice, advising clients on power and renewable energy transactions, including M&A and joint ventures.

The role is suited to an associate comfortable handling complex, multi-party transactions while working closely with senior lawyers and clients.

The Role

  • Advise on power and renewable energy M&A and joint venture transactions
  • Draft and negotiate key transaction documents, including:
  • Purchase and sale agreements
  • Joint venture agreements
  • Development agreements
  • Manage due diligence and transaction processes through to closing
  • Work within multi-disciplinary teams across offices
  • Take on direct client interaction and responsibility

Must-Haves

  • 4–6 years' experience in transactional law (ideally energy-focused)
  • Experience in M&A and/or joint venture transactions
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Solid organisational and project management ability
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active membership and good standing with the Texas Bar (or ability to obtain)

  • Direct experience in power and renewable energy transactions
  • Exposure to complex, multi-jurisdictional deals
  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills
  • Experience working across cross-office or multidisciplinary teams

Comp & Benefits

  • Salary: $290,000 – $390,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Bonus: Performance-based (firm discretionary)
