Power & Renewables Transactional Associate Attorney
A leading AmLaw ranked international law firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Energy Transactions team in Houston. Alternate office locations may be considered depending on business needs and candidate experience.
This is an opportunity to join a growing and well-established energy practice, advising clients on power and renewable energy transactions, including M&A and joint ventures.
The role is suited to an associate comfortable handling complex, multi-party transactions while working closely with senior lawyers and clients.
The Role
- Advise on power and renewable energy M&A and joint venture transactions
- Draft and negotiate key transaction documents, including:
- Purchase and sale agreements
- Joint venture agreements
- Development agreements
- Manage due diligence and transaction processes through to closing
- Work within multi-disciplinary teams across offices
- Take on direct client interaction and responsibility
Must-Haves
- 4–6 years' experience in transactional law (ideally energy-focused)
- Experience in M&A and/or joint venture transactions
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Solid organisational and project management ability
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active membership and good standing with the Texas Bar (or ability to obtain)

- Direct experience in power and renewable energy transactions
- Exposure to complex, multi-jurisdictional deals
- Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills
- Experience working across cross-office or multidisciplinary teams
Comp & Benefits
- Salary: $290,000 – $390,000 (dependent on experience)
- Bonus: Performance-based (firm discretionary)
