About the Role:
The Engineer (HVAC) will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure optimal environmental comfort and energy efficiency within commercial and business service facilities. This position requires a deep understanding of HVAC principles, codes, and standards to develop innovative solutions that meet client specifications and regulatory requirements. The engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards. Additionally, the role involves troubleshooting existing systems, performing energy audits, and recommending upgrades to improve system performance and sustainability. Ultimately, the Engineer (HVAC) will contribute to creating safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient environments that support business operations and client satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe.
- Proven experience in HVAC system design and implementation within commercial or business service environments.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC codes, standards (such as ASHRAE), and local building regulations.
- Proficiency with HVAC design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PE or FE
- Experience with energy modeling software and sustainable building certifications (e.g., LEED).
- Familiarity with building automation systems and controls.
- Project management experience including budgeting and scheduling.
- Certification in HVAC-related fields such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or LEED Accredited Professional.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop HVAC systems for new construction and renovation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and local codes.
- Conduct load calculations, equipment selection, and system layout to optimize performance and energy efficiency.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, electrical engineers, and contractors to integrate HVAC solutions seamlessly into building designs.
- Perform site inspections, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems to verify proper installation and operation.
- Analyze existing HVAC systems to identify issues and recommend cost-effective improvements or retrofits.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and documentation for project proposals and client presentations.
- Stay current with emerging HVAC technologies, energy codes, and sustainability practices to incorporate best practices into designs.
