This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates and early-career professionals who are interested in community development, social sustainability, and infrastructure projects. You will work alongside experienced national and international specialists to support environmental and social studies for hydropower and infrastructure projects in Lao PDR and across the region.
The position is based in Vientiane, Lao PDR, and requires regular travel to project sites throughout the country, with occasional travel within the region.

Job Description
As a Junior Social Consultant, you will support project teams in a variety of environmental and social activities, including:
- Participate in field visits and stakeholder consultations.
- Assist with collecting and organizing social and economic data for project studies.
- Support the assessment of how projects may affect local communities, livelihoods, and vulnerable groups.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and other project documents in both English and Lao.
- Support activities related to land acquisition, compensation, resettlement, and livelihood restoration programs.
- Help record, track, and respond to community feedback and concerns.
- Work closely with project teams, government agencies, local authorities, and communities.
- Provide Lao-English translation and interpretation support when required.
- Assist with project monitoring and reporting activities.
- Collaborate with environmental, engineering, and social specialists to deliver high-quality project outputs.
- Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Anthropology, Geography, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- Prefer at least 2 years of relevant experience in community development, social research, NGOs, consulting, infrastructure projects, or related fields is an advantage. However, recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong interest in social sustainability, community engagement, and development projects.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Good written and spoken English language skills.
- Good in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Willingness to travel frequently to project sites across Lao PDR.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
