About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Services Engineer to lead commissioning activities and manage technical service work for utility-scale energy storage systems. This role operates remotely and serves as the technical expert during commissioning and service operations, ensuring successful system start-up, troubleshooting, and compliance with all technical standards. The Technical Services Engineer will support the commissioning team and handle technical service activities, including diagnostics, repairs, and remote support. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge, leadership ability, and a commitment to quality and safety.

What You Will Do

  • Lead remote commissioning activities for energy storage systems, including system configuration, functional testing, and performance validation.
  • Act as the technical authority during commissioning, guiding and directing the commissioning team to ensure successful project execution.
  • Perform and oversee technical service work, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs for energy storage systems.
  • Provide advanced technical support for service issues and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve complex challenges.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed commissioning and service documentation, including test reports and maintenance records.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines during all commissioning and service activities.
  • Offer technical training and mentorship to commissioning and service team members.
  • Support post-commissioning activities such as performance monitoring and issue resolution as needed.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–6 years of experience in commissioning and service engineering for electrical or energy systems; experience with energy storage systems strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in commissioning processes, system integration, troubleshooting, and repair of complex technical systems.
  • Proficiency with remote diagnostic tools, SCADA systems, and commissioning software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead technical activities independently.
  • Excellent communication skills for guiding teams and interacting with customers remotely.

What is “Nice to Have”?

  • Expert knowledge of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and renewable energy technologies.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming, communication protocols, and control systems.
  • Experience with cybersecurity best practices for remote system access.

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
