Position Overview Field Operations Solar & BESS Technician 2 will support our expanding teams locally and help grow our portfolio of photovoltaic (PV) solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) facilities while connecting the region to the broader Field Operations network. AES Clean Energy is looking for a seasoned Solar Technician with advanced troubleshooting experience. The ideal candidate will be a self‐starter, can take direct instruction from Senior Technicians, and demonstrate the ability to lead, train, and teach other technicians. Key Responsibilities Listen, collaborate, and apply advanced troubleshooting ability, take direct instruction from the Senior Technicians, and support the team at solar + battery facilities at Kuihelani Solar and BESS site (Maui) and other sites currently under construction in performing preventive & corrective maintenance and supporting ongoing construction activities. Build and be part of a motivated team of technicians with the Lead Technician to troubleshoot and repair all equipment at the facility safely and proactively. Communicate effectively with the site team, AES Clean Energy engineers across North America, and third‐party technicians to solve complex issues and develop action plans. Assist, lead, coordinate, and support third‐party technicians for preventive & corrective maintenance and ongoing construction. Support safe, efficient, and reliable field services delivery to facility owners and plan to meet site and regional maintenance obligations. Work closely with the Team Lead and technicians to remediate site issues and enhance operating portfolio performance. Obtain a TWIC card and maintain compliance with all applicable safety and environmental obligations. Coordinate maintenance for vehicles, equipment, and shared assets, assist with warranty claims and contractor onboarding, and maintain an on‐call schedule. Document O&M activities, including service tickets, maintenance reports, safety permits, JHAs/JSAs, LOTO, energized electrical permits, and excavation permits. Track inventory levels, initiate re‐orders of consumables and spare parts, and collaborate with procurement. Participate in construction/commissioning of facilities, ensuring high‐quality build, punch‐list closeout, and transition to O&M Team. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, regional, and federal regulations and AES company policies. Assist in additional administrative duties as assigned by management. Skills and Qualifications Three (3) years as a solar PV technician or five (5) years in a power plant (utility‐scale electrical systems). Technical degree or equivalent; journeyman qualification a plus. Experience with AC and DC electrical systems of varying types and voltages, especially PV solar systems and substations (MV/HV). Knowledge of Combiner Box 1500Vdc, Inverter 3‐phase 850Vac, ACDC 1216‐1500Vdc, DCDC 625‐1475Vdc, and BESS container E4L 1312Vdc max. Proficiency with OSHA standards, NFPA70E, lockout/tagout, grounding, relay operation, switchgear, PV modules, arrays, inverters, and battery storage containers. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and procedure documents. Computer proficiency with CMMS, DAS/SCADA, equipment‐specific maintenance programs, and Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently, lead and train others, and demonstrate a "fixer" attitude with a "do what I do" philosophy. NFPA70E and OSHA 30 certification. Comfortable working in a power plant environment, 24hours a day, 7days a week as required. Ability to lift 35lbs (OSHA) without assist. Must have 20/20 vision, good hearing, and not color blind. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally. Multilingual and cross‐functional collaboration skills are an asset. Additional Requirements Must obtain a TWIC card. Must be able to lift 35lbs without assist. MUST maintain a valid driver's license. Willing to travel between islands and the U.S. Mainland. Compensation and Benefits Expected salary: $35.00 to $42.08 per hour; base pay may vary by location, experience, and market. Annual bonus is part of the total compensation package.
