Entry-Level Structural Steel Welder (MIG / Flux-Core)

What You'll Do

  • Assist with welding plates to beams and columns for large structural steel assemblies
  • Perform MIG and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) with guidance from experienced welders
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and shop drawings
  • Measure and verify dimensions using tape measures and basic layout tools
  • Support the fabrication process including cutting, fitting, welding, and prep work
  • Inspect your work and continue developing strong, clean welds
  • Work alongside skilled fabricators and welders to keep projects on track
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

What You Bring

  • Welding school training or some hands-on MIG/FCAW experience (preferred, not required)
  • Basic understanding of welding tools and safety practices
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Ability to read a tape measure (or eagerness to learn)
  • Reliable work ethic and team-first attitude

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Previous shop, construction, or manufacturing experience
  • Exposure to structural steel or fabrication environments
  • Entry-level welding certifications or coursework

Work Environment

This is a full-time, first-shift position, typically working 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday (49-hour workweek).

You'll work in a large structural steel fabrication shop handling beams and heavy steel components. The environment includes industrial equipment, noise, and safety protocols typical of a steel shop. You'll gain hands-on experience with cutting, welding, and preparing steel for real-world construction projects.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Somerset, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
