Role: Chartered Accountant – Taxation, Compliance & Internal Controls

Role Overview
We are looking for a specialist Chartered Accountant with strong hands-on experience in GST and Income Tax, who can independently manage tax compliances, define robust control frameworks, and contribute strategically to tax planning and governance. The role also involves internal audit support, process reviews, and management reporting, aligned with a fast-growing, multi-entity organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Taxation – Compliance & Execution (Core Role)
- Independently manage GST compliances including monthly/quarterly returns, reconciliations, audits, and ensuring accurate availment of input tax credit.
- Handle Income Tax compliances including advance tax computation and payments, TDS deductions, deposits, quarterly returns, and annual filings.
- Preparation of data, workings, reconciliations, and timely filing of all statutory tax returns across group entities.
- Ensure end-to-end ownership of tax compliances with a zero-delay, zero-error mindset.
2. Controls, Reconciliations & Compliance Governance
- Design, implement, and monitor checks & balances for tax processes and statutory compliances.
- Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations (GST, TDS, ledgers, returns vs books).
- Prepare structured compliance and control reports for management review on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Maintain and continuously update compliance calendars, trackers, and control documentation across Aerem group entities.
3. Strategic & Forward-Looking Tax Role
- Provide regular tax updates to management on regulatory changes and assess their financial and operational impact on the organization.
- Adopt a futuristic and proactive approach to taxation by tracking latest amendments, circulars, judicial precedents, and best practices.
- Assist in tax strategy formulation at an organizational level, including structuring, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Support management with decision-oriented tax insights, not just compliance reporting.
4. Department Representation & Assessments
- Act as the primary point of contact for tax authorities.
- Attend and manage queries, notices, audits, and assessments from GST, Income Tax, and other statutory departments.
- Prepare and submit accurate data, explanations, and replies within timelines.
- Liaise with external consultants for tax assessments, notices, litigations, and clarifications, ensuring seamless coordination.
5. Internal Audit, Process Review & Assurance
- Parallel involvement in internal audits, process reviews, and verification of key reconciliations.
- Evaluate existing processes, identify control gaps, and recommend improvements.
- Prepare and present internal audit observations and reports to management.
- Support governance initiatives and strengthen overall financial and compliance discipline.
6. Cross-Functional & Ad-Hoc Responsibilities
- Work closely with Legal, HR, Operations, and Business teams to ensure process-linked compliances are adhered to.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders for tax-related documentation and clarifications.
- Undertake any other assignments as required by management or statutory authorities at execution or strategic levels.
Eligibility & Skill Requirements
- Chartered Accountant with 2–4 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong specialization in GST and Income Tax (Advance Tax, TDS, assessments).
- Sound understanding of internal controls, reconciliations, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience in handling notices, audits, and departmental interactions.
- Ability to translate tax laws into practical business implications.
- Strong attention to detail, integrity, ownership mindset, and accountability.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (Zoho/Tally or equivalent preferred).
