AECOM's environmental practice is dedicated to helping industries, clients and governments meet their environmental responsibilities while protecting the natural environment. We provide advisory and technical services to ensure compliance, manage impacts, and reduce risks, including obtaining permits and approvals, post approvals and environmental management advice, decommissioning and restoring contaminated sites, and tackling climate change challenges and resilience.

We are a passionate team of environmental impact assessors working within an organisation creating meaningful change both in Australia and around the globe. Our team is made up of twenty-two environmental impact assessors across Sydney and Newcastle and due to recent project wins we are growing. We are looking for professionals who will lead environmental impact assessments for projects across transport, renewable energy, transmission, water, and industrial sectors. Our enviable EIS portfolio includes Sydney Metro EISs, Great Western Highway Blackheath to Little Hartley EIS, the first offshore wind farm EIS in Australia; longest road tunnel EIS in Australia and the first place-based EIS for an infrastructure project in NSW.

We are looking for experienced environmental planning and approvals professionals across a range of seniority levels to join our growing team. You will support the delivery of timely, high-quality environmental impact assessments, constraints analyses, strategic assessments and environmental management plans across a diverse portfolio of transport, energy and infrastructure projects.

Beyond project delivery, we are particularly interested in individuals who bring a strong focus on client engagement, business development and growing trusted relationships within the environmental consulting market. Depending on your level, you may contribute to identifying opportunities, expanding existing client partnerships, supporting work winning activities and helping shape the continued growth of our environmental approvals capability. You will also assist in coordinating resources, budgets and timelines to support successful project outcomes and team performance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in environmental planning, approvals and environmental consulting, ideally across transport, energy and infrastructure sectors in NSW
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects, build client relationships and contribute to business development and growth opportunities
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with experience mentoring or supporting teams viewed favourably
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, environmental planning, environmental engineering, town planning or a related discipline, with professional accreditation viewed favourably
