Job Type: Variable-Hour Hourly Employee (W2)
Location: Nationwide travel required (Headquarters in Dallas, TX.)
Position Summary
The Field Service Technician III (FST3) serves as a high-level technical lead and bilingual liaison, responsible for executing and coordinating complex maintenance and repair activities for BESS, inverters, and power systems. This role bridges the gap between onsite technicians and engineering teams, specifically facilitating technical communication and problem-solving with Mandarin-speaking suppliers to ensure project alignment. As a site lead, the FST3 oversees commissioning and troubleshooting across North America (including the US and Canada), playing a critical leadership role in large-scale utility projects.
Responsibilities
Site Support & Execution
- Bilingual Technical Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for technical coordination with Chinese-speaking suppliers, ensuring clear communication of specifications, troubleshooting steps, and quality standards.
- Site Execution & Leadership: Lead onsite installation, commissioning, and inspections for BESS and power equipment, bridging the gap between field technicians and design engineers.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Perform complex diagnostics and independent problem-solving on power systems; transition from following SOPs to providing technical guidance to junior staff.
- International Coordination: Manage onsite activity logs, technical reports (in both English and Chinese as required), and daily briefings for both internal stakeholders and external clients/suppliers.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to PPE, LOTO, and electrical safety protocols (NFPA 70E) during all field operations.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow company and client safety requirements including PPE, LOTO, and electrical safety protocols
- Participate in daily job briefings and hazard assessments
- Report any safety risks or abnormal conditions immediately
Team Coordination
- Act as a technical liaison between the company and Chinese-speaking suppliers to ensure precise communication of technical specifications, project timelines, and quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with the onsite team
- Write basic documents (daily report and checklist etc.)
- Communicate progress, delays, and technical issues promptly to both internal and external
- Maintain professional communication with supervisors and site personnel
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 3 years plus of experience in electrical, mechanical, industrial, solar, BESS, construction, or related field work.
- Language Proficiency: Native or professional working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (Traditional/Simplified). Must be able to conduct technical discussions, read technical documentation, and write professional reports in Chinese.
- Travel: Willingness to travel extensively (70%–100%) across the US and Canada. Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs or more and work in various outdoor environments.
- License: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for international travel.
Preferred
- Certifications (Preferred): OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, or valid electrical certifications.
- Veterans or trade-skill backgrounds encouraged to apply
- Basic electrical measurement experience (voltage/current testing).
- Forklift/Skid steer
- Experience on utility-scale sites (solar, BESS, heavy electrical)
