Diesel Mechanic Heavy Equipment

Key Responsibilities

• Inspecting and Diagnosing: Consult work orders, read technical manuals and diagnostic reports to identify issues with diesel engines and their components. 
• Maintenance: Perform routine services such as oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations. 
• Repairs: Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and components, including those in brake systems, transmissions, and steering mechanisms. 
• Engine Work: Conduct major engine repairs and potentially install emission control systems to meet regulations. 
• Testing: Conduct test drives to confirm repairs and ensure the vehicle runs smoothly and efficiently. 

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of diesel engine systems, electrical systems, and other components. 
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems. 
• Tools and Equipment: Proficiency with various diagnostic equipment and repair tools. 
• Physical Stamina: The ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy parts, and work in various conditions, sometimes in confined spaces.
