Burner/Torcher
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and safety-conscious Burner/Torcher to join our operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating torching equipment to reduce the size of various metal objects and dismantle machinery to prepare them for further processing.
Key Responsibilities
Operation: Safely operate oxy-fuel or plasma torches to cut, trim, and shape metal components.
Preparation: Set up equipment, inspect hoses/regulators, and prepare materials for cutting.
Demolition/Processing: Dismantle structures, cut scrap, and process heavy materials like vehicles, machinery, or building components.
Quality Control: Inspect cut pieces for accuracy and ensure minimal waste.
Safety: Adhere strictly to safety protocols, wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and maintain a hazard-free work area.
Maintenance: Perform routine checks and basic servicing of torch equipment.
Collaboration: Work with team members, loaders, and supervisors for efficient workflow
Qualifications and Requirements
Required:
Experience with torch cutting, welding, or metalworking.
Strong understanding of torch equipment and safety procedures.
Physical stamina (lifting, standing, bending).
Attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination.
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings (sometimes).
Ability to work in demanding conditions (heat, heights, etc.).
Preferred:
High School graduate or G.E.D..
Experience using both a six-foot torch and a plasma torch.
