RNG Plant Manager – Nebraska

Full-Time | On-Site | Renewable Natural Gas Facility

Our client, a major developer and operator in the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) sector, is seeking a Plant Manager to lead operations at a flagship RNG facility in Nebraska. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance across all operational and maintenance activities.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a commitment to operational excellence in a 24/7 industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily plant operations, including anaerobic digesters, gas upgrading systems, blowers, compressors, and related process equipment.
  • Monitor KPIs and process parameters to optimise gas production, quality, and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot process or equipment issues and drive root-cause solutions.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between operations, maintenance, and technical teams.

Maintenance Leadership

  • Lead all preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Manage CMMS work orders, maintenance scheduling, and spare parts inventory.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and internal engineering teams for repairs and upgrades.
  • Develop and implement maintenance SOPs and reliability improvement plans.

Safety, Compliance & Environmental

  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, state, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular site safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for regulatory reporting, emissions, and quality control.
  • Uphold company safety culture and enforce safe work practices at all times.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise operators, technicians, and contractors on-site.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance oversight to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Support workforce planning and onboarding of new technical personnel.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Technical & Operational Reporting

  • Analyse performance data and prepare recurring operational reports for senior leadership.
  • Manage plant budget, procurement, vendor relationships, and inventory control.
  • Support capital project execution, plant upgrades, and new technology integration.
  • Monitor utility interconnections and ensure gas quality meets contract specifications.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in plant operations within RNG, biogas, wastewater, landfill gas, chemical processing, or other industrial facilities.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and process systems (pumps, blowers, compressors, valves, controls).
  • Experience leading teams in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with HMI/SCADA systems and CMMS platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with RNG or biogas upgrading technologies (membrane, PSA, etc.).
  • Background in environmental compliance or utility interconnection.
  • Experience implementing reliability programmes or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Technical certifications (e.g., wastewater operator licence, industrial maintenance certificates) are a plus.
