Job Title: Project Manager – Federal Construction

Job Description

The Project Manager oversees multiple federal construction projects in the Mid-Atlantic/DMV region, managing day-to-day operations, supporting 2–3 projects totaling approximately $15M, and ensuring successful delivery in accordance with federal requirements. This role combines project management, estimating support, subcontractor coordination, and client-facing responsibilities to drive high-quality outcomes on task order contracts and IDIQs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of federal construction projects, ensuring work progresses on schedule and within scope.
  • Oversee 2–3 concurrent projects in the DMV/Mid-Atlantic region, totaling roughly $15M in value.
  • Review project scopes of work in detail and ensure alignment with contract requirements and federal standards.
  • Engage, qualify, and coordinate subcontractors, including organizing and overseeing site visits to support accurate bids.
  • Support estimating efforts by reviewing scopes of work, aligning subcontractor participation, and contributing to the preparation of bids for task order contracts and IDIQs.
  • Prepare, review, and submit estimates and bids for federal task order contracts and IDIQ opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules, integrating subcontractor timelines and critical path activities.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities to ensure work is properly sequenced, resourced, and executed according to schedule.
  • Serve as a client-facing representative, maintaining professional communication, addressing project issues, and building strong working relationships.
  • Assist with project scheduling tasks, including tracking milestones, monitoring progress, and adjusting plans as needed.
  • Apply construction management and engineering principles to support design coordination and field execution.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, including scopes of work, schedules, subcontractor information, and bid materials.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with internal team members and external partners to support project goals.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, tight-knit project team focused on long-term success in the federal construction arena.

Essential Skills

  • 3–7 years of experience in federal construction, with NAVFAC and GSA project experience considered ideal.
  • Proven project management experience in construction, including day-to-day oversight of field activities and subcontractor coordination.
  • Strong construction management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Hands-on construction field experience that supports practical decision-making and effective site coordination.
  • Experience supporting estimating activities, including reviewing scopes of work and coordinating subcontractor bids.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling, including developing and maintaining schedules and managing subcontractor timelines.
  • Computer proficiency, including strong skills with MS Office and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage documentation, schedules, and multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a mature and professional demeanor.
  • US citizenship.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred; relevant experience is highly valued and can substitute for formal education.
  • Experience working on federal government construction projects in the Mid-Atlantic/DMV region.
  • Experience in design and engineering concepts as they relate to construction projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a client-facing role, representing the company on federal projects.
  • Comfort working in a fast-growing general contractor environment with evolving processes and opportunities.
  • Ability to thrive in a small, tight-knit team focused on long-term growth in the federal construction market.

Work Environment

The Project Manager works primarily from an office in the Waldorf area alongside the internal project team, with light travel to job sites within the DMV region as needed. The environment is that of a fast-growing general contractor with a small, close-knit team focused on building a strong presence in the federal construction arena. Work involves regular use of computers and standard office software such as MS Office and Excel, collaboration with field personnel and subcontractors, and participation in site visits to active construction projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waldorf, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $130000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
