Job Title: Project Manager – Commercial Construction / Data CenterJob Description

This Project Manager role focuses on overseeing a high-profile, vertical commercial construction project with a significant data center component, ensuring it is delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. The position supports owners as their representative on a 12‑month, multimillion‑dollar commercial/data center initiative, collaborating closely with general contractors and subcontractors. The role offers the chance to contribute to a cutting‑edge AI campus project for a leading technology innovator while working with a highly supportive and collaborative construction management team.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the owner’s representative on a large-scale vertical commercial construction and data center project, ensuring that all work meets established standards, specifications, and project goals.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, including planning, coordination, execution, and closeout, while maintaining alignment with scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Oversee and coordinate general contractors on vertical commercial construction and data center projects, providing direction, resolving issues, and ensuring adherence to contract obligations.
  • Lead and manage the preparation, review, and processing of submittals, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission into the project database (approximately 30% of the role).
  • Handle requests for information (RFIs), including drafting, reviewing, tracking, and ensuring timely responses to maintain project momentum (approximately 20% of the role).
  • Participate actively in project-related meetings, including bids, GC coordination meetings, and subcontractor meetings, representing the owner’s interests and driving effective communication and decision-making (approximately 20% of the role).
  • Monitor project schedules, identify risks and potential delays, and work with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies and keep the project on track.
  • Collaborate closely with owners, general contractors, and subcontractors to resolve technical and logistical challenges, maintaining a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including logs for RFIs, submittals, schedules, and meeting minutes, and ensure information is properly stored in project databases.
  • Support a culture of safety, quality, and accountability on site by reinforcing standards and encouraging best practices among all project participants.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment, sharing insights and supporting colleagues to achieve collective project success.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of construction management (CM) or project management (PM) experience in commercial construction, OR at least 10 years of PM experience if coming from the general contractor (GC) side.
  • 5+ years of experience managing RFIs, submittals, scheduling, and overall project management specifically for vertical commercial construction projects.
  • Proven experience overseeing and managing general contractors on vertical commercial construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working on data center projects, including coordination with specialized trades and technology-focused stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of construction management practices for commercial and data center environments, including documentation control and schedule management.
  • Ability to manage complex project documentation processes, including submittals and RFIs, with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for leading meetings, coordinating with owners, general contractors, and subcontractors, and representing project interests effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced project environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in managing projects within AI campuses, data campuses, or other technology-driven facilities is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in healthcare-related construction or other complex commercial environments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with construction management tools and databases used for tracking submittals, RFIs, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with owners, general contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Comfort working on high-visibility, cutting-edge projects that involve advanced technology and innovative construction solutions.

Work Environment

This role supports a large vertical commercial construction and data center project located across multiple states, including Virginia, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and South Carolina, while allowing the Project Manager to live anywhere within the continental United States. You will work closely with a highly regarded construction management team and a leading general contractor on site, in an environment known for strong mutual support and collaboration.

The project involves an AI campus and cutting-edge data center work for a top AI chip developer, offering exposure to innovative technology and complex commercial construction. Work will center around typical commercial construction settings, including on-site meetings, coordination with field teams, and office-based documentation and scheduling tasks. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pasadena, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
