Project Manager
The Opportunity We are seeking a Project Manager to join our Irvine studio, which focuses on K-12 education and civic projects. This leadership role involves responsibility for project quality, architectural design, technical production, client management, and financial performance. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and communication skills and experience delivering exemplary public school and government projects that meet client and user needs. Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as day-to-day point of contact with clients and governing agencies, including the Division of the State Architect (DSA).
- Manage overall project quality through all design phases, including client interaction, scheduling, and financial performance (client and internal budgets).
- Assist Principal-in-Charge with generating design service proposals.
- Understand contracts and oversee projects from inception through closeout.
- Manage project teams, determine staffing assignments, and ensure milestones are met.
- Oversee all aspects of project management, including budgeting, staffing, billing, and consultant coordination.
- Lead coordination with consultants and design team; manage details within a Revit context.
- Coordinate material identification and specifications; ensure quality control of contract documents.
- Lead construction administration, including meetings, submittals, and field sketches.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
- Minimum 10 years' experience managing public school projects.
- Proven experience with DSA processes, including full lifecycle review, approval, and certification.
- California Architecture license required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Deltek Vision a plus.
- Passion for sustainable design; LEED accreditation preferred.
- Ability to interface with clients and maintain strong relationships while managing projects.
- Experience preparing fee proposals and contributing to RFPs.
- Proven ability to manage project budgets and assign staff effectively.
- Business development experience and ability to bring in new clients is a plus.
