Company Description

ACRES West Connacht is a targeted agri-environment climate scheme supporting over 10,000 farmers across Galway, Mayo, Sligo, and Roscommon. Using a habitats-based approach, it promotes improved biodiversity, climate action, and better air and water quality. The scheme combines results-based and prescriptive actions within a hybrid payment structure to enhance and maintain farmland's environmental condition. ACRES West Connacht is delivered locally by Wetland Surveys Ireland, along with the Pearl Mussel Project, covering the Northwest Connacht and South Mayo Connemara zones. The initiative began in January 2023 and is set to run for at least five years to provide ongoing local support to participant farmers.
