About AccuVolt

AccuVolt is an innovative company specializing in the development, engineering, and integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), based in Bozen/Bolzano (South Tyrol, Italy).

Our focus is on co-located battery storage solutions for commercial and industrial (C&I) sites, combining on-site energy optimization with opportunities in electricity markets and grid services.

We bring together expertise in engineering, project development, energy markets, and regulatory affairs to develop technically sound and economically viable battery storage projects.

Your Role

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will provide technical and electrical engineering support for the development and implementation of AccuVolt's BESS projects across Italy.

Your responsibilities will focus on system design, integration with existing electrical infrastructure, grid connections, technical specifications, and coordination with equipment suppliers, engineering consultants, and technical partners.

You will work at the intersection of electrical engineering, project development, and implementation, contributing to AccuVolt's integrated approach to energy storage development, technology, control systems, and energy optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary engineering assessments, feasibility studies, site inspections, and technical evaluations supporting project development.
  • Support the technical design and engineering of BESS installations.
  • Develop and review electrical diagrams, single-line diagrams (SLDs), system architectures, and interfaces involving battery systems, power conversion systems (PCS), inverters, transformers, MV/LV substations, protection systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Support the technical aspects of grid connection processes, coordinating with Distribution System Operators (DSOs), engineering consultants, grid specialists, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to permitting and authorization procedures by preparing and reviewing the required technical documentation.
  • Support the technical structuring of projects, considering the regulatory, economic, and bankability implications of engineering decisions.
  • Prepare technical specifications and tender documentation for equipment suppliers, system integrators, engineering firms, and EPC contractors, and assist in evaluating technical proposals.
  • Assess the compatibility of proposed solutions with site characteristics, electricity consumption profiles, on-site generation, grid constraints, and connection requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with AccuVolt's project development team and other departments throughout the project lifecycle, from initial feasibility assessment to construction, commissioning, and operation.

Your Profile

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Initial or more extensive professional experience in electrical engineering, MV/LV installations, renewable energy systems, battery storage, or industrial energy infrastructure.
  • Good understanding of single-line diagrams, electrical protection systems, substations, grid connections, and operating principles of electrical installations.
  • Ability to evaluate engineering decisions from technical, permitting and regulatory perspectives in Italy.
  • Practical, solution-oriented mindset, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to solve technical problems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly when working with external engineering partners, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Willingness to conduct site visits and travel to project locations all over Italy.
  • Basic fluency in Italian (at least B1 level)

Additional Qualifications That Would Be an Advantage

  • Experience with BESS technology, PCS/inverters, medium-voltage connections, electrical substations, grid studies, or commissioning.
  • Experience managing grid connection applications and/or permitting procedures for energy projects in Italy.
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical engineering standards and technical requirements for MV/LV installations and grid connections.
  • Experience with electrical design, calculation, or simulation software.
  • Experience coordinating technical activities with DSOs, EPC contractors, system integrators, and electrical equipment suppliers.
  • Professional engineering qualification and registration with the relevant Italian professional engineering association (Albo degli Ingegneri).
  • Knowledge of English and/or German.
