ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project.

The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project will build new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity.

The project consists of 90km of 500kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330kV transmission lines for generator connections, stretching from Elong Elong in the west through to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie.

Our Central-West Orana project is currently seeking dedicated Superintendent - Electrical to share their expertise within our growing Energy Hubs and Substations team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the appropriate resources (including personnel) are in place with delegated responsibilities to guarantee quality procedures are integrated.
  • Ensures that the project teams execute all aspects of the project works in accordance with quality requirements (e.g. all non-conformances and defects closed out)
  • Oversees the implementation of the safety plan for the project.
  • Ensure that the appropriate project safety personnel are in place with delegated responsibilities.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources identifies gaps in safety and knowledge/skills for the project and targets training to bridge gaps
  • Supervise and coordinate resource allocation with the expectation that you would encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Ensures and actively participates in the development of the key areas of project design and program.
  • Jointly with the Area Manager remains financially responsible and accountable for the project profitability.
  • In conjunction with the Project Director provides project vision, sets profit targets and project objectives for self, team and company.

Criteria for Selection

  • Experience constructing outdoor air insulated substations and substations at 220kV or above
  • Preferable 12+ years' experience in a construction / engineering, renewable energy substations project environment.
  • The Superintendent has primary responsibility for the safe and successful completion of all field activities on the project in accordance with the program. Responsible for the coordination and control of all construction activities to ensure that assigned projects(s) are completed to the client's satisfaction and to meet the company's requirements to occupational health and safety, environmental, quality, time and profit objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and solid problem solving / analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated relevant leadership skills ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are satisfied.
  • Competent in planning and organising work schedules.
  • Working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same
  • Clear communication - verbal and written, high attention to detail and knowledge of MS Office Package

Superintendent positions may start in our project office in Sydney CBD, with occasional site visits. Once the project is fully operational, it will transition to DIDO 14 days onsite in camp style accommodation and 7 days off site, on a roster-based arrangement out at The Central West Orana Transmission Line Project
