Position Summary:
ACAP Saint John is seeking a Restoration and Conservation Manager to lead our habitat restoration efforts in the Greater Saint John Region. This position will help oversee our vital habitat restoration efforts to combat both the biodiversity and climate crisis through the creation, improvement, and protection of natural spaces. The successful candidate will lead our habitat restoration and conservation related projects such as riparian restoration, in-stream aquatic restoration, tree planting and reforestation efforts, Inner Bay of Fundy Atlantic salmon monitoring and overall watershed management initiatives and planning. This position will involve both field work and administrative duties and as such we are looking for a highly organized individual who can balance both field and office demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Support -
- Lead and develop all restoration and conservation related projects including riparian restoration, in-stream aquatic restoration, tree planting and reforestation, and watershed management.
- Develop and track project workplans.
- Conduct field work as necessary to ensure successful project implementation.
- Lead contract work such as fish rescues and sediment control.
- Oversee two coordinators, field technician, and summer staff.
- Train incoming staff as necessary.
- Work with engagement staff to plan volunteer opportunities.
- Support the design and delivery of engagement and outreach initiatives related to projects goals.
- Help to create and track project budgets.
- Source and acquire project supplies and resources.
- Reporting and Data -
- Lead reporting and tracking of project deliverables for funders.
- Complete internal check-in reporting as required.
- Maintain detailed databases to track project specific data.
- Lead the development of final reports.
- Work with engagement staff to produce public-facing communications of project successes and activities.
- Data analysis and interpretation.
- Funding Support -
- Contribute to grant writing and proposal development.
- Seek out strategic partnerships and contracts to support overall habitat restoration goals for the region.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions.
- Help to maintain and expand our network of funders, partners, and supporters.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree in an environmental management related field or equivalent.
- 2 – 5+ years previous experience managing multiple projects and staff.
- Previous experience conducting habitat restoration projects.
- Knowledge of bioengineering approaches for riparian restoration.
- Electrofishing certificate and experience conducting fish rescues.
- Knowledge of native plant species.
- GIS knowledge and experience.
- Data analysis, statistical, and R experience.
- CABIN certification.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Self-starter with a collaborative spirit and team-oriented mindset.
- Able to spend long days in the field in all weather conditions.
Additional Information:
- Some evening and weekend work may be required for events and tidal effected monitoring activities • Access to a vehicle is considered an asset.

- ACAP Saint John offers flexible working location during off-peak season (winter) for multiple days a week and occasional work-from-home options during the field season as field scheduling allows.
