Your Role And Responsibilities
ABB’s EU Government Relations & Public Affairs (EU GRPA) office in Brussels is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support its work on EU policy and public affairs initiatives. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in EU policy-making processes, stakeholder engagement, and corporate public affairs in a dynamic and international environment.
Working closely with ABB’s EU GRPA team, the intern will help ensure that ABB’s priorities and viewpoints are represented in key EU policy discussions and will support efforts to keep internal stakeholders informed about policy and political developments affecting ABB’s business, technologies, and strategic objectives.
This role is contributing to the Group EU Government Relations and Public Affairs (EU GRPA) team in Brussels, Belgium.

This role is contributing to the Group EU Government Relations and Public Affairs (EU GRPA) team in Brussels, Belgium.
The intern will support the EU GRPA team in:
- Monitoring, researching, and analyzing EU legislative and policy developments that impact ABB’s business across energy (electrification, grid infrastructure, energy efficiency), industrial, trade and sustainability policy areas.
- Preparing and reviewing policy briefings, presentations, and responses to EU consultations.
- Supporting ABB’s engagement in EU and international policy events related to climate and
- Attending and reporting on EU conferences.
- Assisting with the logistics and organization of events.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in EU Affairs, EU Law, Political Science, International Relations, or related fields.
- Experience: Previous internship experience in EU institutions, consultancies, or corporate public affairs is desirable.
- Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex policy topics clearly and concisely.
- Excellent command of English (other EU languages a plus).
- Interest in EU policy, sustainability and climate policy, industrial and energy topics, and international affairs.
- A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Location: Candidates must officially reside in Belgium and possess a Belgian National Number.
- Candidates must be eligible for a Beroepsinlevingsstage (BIS) / Convention d'immersion professionnelle (CIP).
- A 5-month paid internship under a Beroepsinlevingsstage (BIS) / Convention d'immersion professionnelle (CIP).
- Laptop and IT accessories provided for the duration of the internship.
- Exposure to high-level EU policy discussions relevant to ABB’s leadership in electrification and automation.
- Hands-on exposure to in-house corporate government relations and public affairs operations.
- Mentorship and structured training program, and the opportunity to develop business and political expertise in a leading Global and EU Government Relations and Public Affairs function.
