Potential Co-Founder/ Associate Founder for our Startup

Company Description

Aatral is an early‑stage climate‑tech startup focused on next‑generation battery technology for grid, industrial, and community energy storage. The team is developing a solid‑state sodium‑ion battery using a hybrid polymer–ceramic electrolyte. Aatral is currently at proof‑of‑concept stage with lab coin cells developed together with Fraunhofer IKTS. We are located inside TUM Venture labs.

Role Description

This is a potential co‑founder role for a technically driven person who wants to help build Aatral from an early stage. The focus is on day‑to‑day technical and product tasks, while also supporting funding and grant activities in a small, hands‑on team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the founders and Fraunhofer IKTS partners on lab experiments, testing, and data analysis for solid‑state sodium‑ion cells.
  • Help plan and track R&D tasks, timelines, and simple documentation for prototypes and tests.
  • Support preparation of funding and grant applications (technical sections, figures, simple calculations).
  • Assist with building simple technical presentations, pitch decks, and one‑pagers for partners and programs.
  • Join calls with incubators, accelerators, and potential partners to explain the technology in clear, simple language.
  • Over time, grow into leading a part of the technology area (materials, testing, modelling, or system integration).

Qualifications

  • Background in one of the following (completed or ongoing): Battery technology, electrochemistry, materials science, Physics or physical chemistry, Chemical engineering, mechanical engineering with energy focus, Renewable energy / green technologies.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s students, recent graduates, or early‑career researchers are welcome to apply; experience is a plus but not required. (Preferably from TUM-Technical University of Munich)
  • Strong motivation to work on climate‑relevant technology and energy storage.
  • Comfortable working in an early‑stage startup: open‑minded, proactive, ready to learn and to do both technical and practical tasks.
