About The Role
3Degrees is a leading B Corp in the sustainability sector, on a mission to empower organizations to transition towards a net-zero future. We achieve this by offering a comprehensive suite of sustainability solutions, including helping clients source renewable energy, investing in carbon avoidance projects, and implementing decarbonization strategies.
Consultants are vital contributors on the Power Markets team, the renewable energy consulting group within 3Degrees. This position conducts research and analysis to support the delivery of client work across Europe under the direction of senior-level team members and the Manager, Europe. 3Degrees' consulting engagements focus on developing and implementing renewable energy and carbon reduction solutions for large organizations. Our work aims to reduce emissions of energy supplies, both electricity and thermal, and enable growing organizations to adopt these solutions within robust sustainability programs.
This is a full-time position reporting to our Manager, Power Markets. We prefer a hybrid work arrangement for those near our Norway or Netherlands offices, but we are also open to hiring remotely in Italy, Spain, the UK, and Hungary.

What You'll Do
Our Consultants help deliver high-impact client projects across European and global markets by performing the following work:
- Conduct complex analyses by working with existing models or creating new custom models to meet client needs. Examples include financial and risk analyses for European power purchase agreements (PPAs), project-specific forecast scenarios, energy market backcasts, corporate retail electricity procurement, and onsite solar feasibility studies
- Lead the practical execution of integrating quarterly market forecast curves purchased from external suppliers into internal toolkits to ensure data setups are client-ready
- Maintain, update, and improve our regional market intelligence dashboards used to gather pricing and complex energy market data, converting technical datasets into highly polished Tableau visual representations
- Conduct independent research using your ingenuity and curiosity to formulate appropriate solutions when faced with incomplete information. Delve into country-level European energy market developments, standards documentation, regional regulatory proceedings, and changing policy landscapes
- Look beyond basic number-crunching to evaluate, synthesize, and explain the underlying market drivers behind how European energy markets are evolving
- Actively support long-term strategic efficiency goals by identifying manual workflows and helping automate processes to bring analysis directly into our Meridian platform
- Implement standard error-checking processes to maintain high-quality project delivery. Autonomously manage your own day-to-day workload, accurately estimating delivery timelines to minimize back-and-forth revisions with managers

Prior experience working on consulting projects for multinational corporations is essential, as is experience addressing renewable energy and climate change issues across European jurisdictions. You have the following:
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience supporting clients as part of a consulting team
- Professional experience or strong familiarity with subject matter such as corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs), European Guarantees of Origin (GOs) and UK Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs), wholesale energy markets, retail electricity supply, green tariffs, greenhouse gas inventories, and carbon project solutions
- Familiarity with major voluntary and corporate sustainability frameworks, including areas such as science-based targets (SBTi), RE100, and supply chain decarbonization
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., nested formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting, advanced filtering/sorting) and a strong background in managing large datasets. Proficiency using Tableau for professional data visualization and analysis is required. VBA knowledge is a plus
- Stellar researcher who can synthesize complex policy, economic, and technical information to logically structure findings
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, including experience making and delivering presentations to external corporate clients and internal stakeholders. Additional European language skills are a strong plus
- Versatility and ability to be agile in a fast-moving environment that requires handling many different types of tasks for a variety of project types
- Bachelor's Degree in science, engineering, business, economics, or a related field is preferred, along with professional experience in an analytical role

- You establish collaborative working relationships with European team members and gain familiarity with internal tools, project workflows, and models
- You can work independently on assigned streams, knowing when and where to seek information and regional resources
- You support active project work by leading and crafting targeted analysis, drawing insights, and formulating structured client-facing recommendations
- You use the team's internal tools and models confidently in standard applications and share key regional market insights with the team
- You are able to deliver high-quality tasks tailored specifically to unique client needs and can slot easily into a variety of new or existing project types across Europe
- You actively contribute to building and improving the team's internal tools, European market methodologies, and models
- You effectively prioritize tasks and manage small sub-workstreams of larger projects, utilizing strong time management and coordinating effectively with project managers
- Successfully lead the end-to-end execution of complex financial and risk analyses (e.g., European PPA forecasts, retail tariff assessments) for at least 3-5 major client engagements. This includes developing at least one new internal tool or significant enhancement to an existing Excel/Tableau model to improve team efficiency
- Transition from "supporting" to "owning" the delivery of high-impact client deliverables, demonstrated by leading the presentation of technical research and data-driven recommendations to external stakeholders with minimal oversight from senior team members
- Demonstrate the ability to manage workstreams independently by consistently meeting project milestones, proactively identifying project risks (such as data gaps or European regulatory shifts), and effectively collaborating across the team
