Organizational Overview

350PDX envisions a vibrant, resilient, people-powered movement driving the transition away from fossil fuels and the extractive economy toward clean, accessible energy and a livable climate for all people, for generations to come.

Our mission is to connect, train, and activate Portlanders to fight injustice and create bold, equitable climate solutions.

We advance climate justice by ending our dependence on fossil fuels, expanding clean energy and healthy ecosystems, and ensuring these transitions are equitable. Through grassroots organizing, coalition building, and policy advocacy, we mobilize a broad and diverse community — from neighborhood volunteers to city hall — to drive change from the ground up.

Position Summary

350PDX is ready to take its development program to the next level — and we are looking for the person who will get it there. The Development Manager is a visionary, self-directed fundraising professional who will assess, strengthen, and drive 350PDX's contributed income strategy. We have real assets to work with: an established CRM, a base of sustaining and campaign donors, and a deeply committed community ready to be engaged more strategically. What we need is someone who sees the opportunity in what exists, is energized to sharpen it into a high-performing, justice-rooted development program, and is committed to growing our financial sustainability in service of bold climate action.

This role owns the development function day-to-day and operates with a high degree of initiative — you will set the vision (aligned with strategic plan), build/sharpen the systems, and drive execution. At the same time, 350PDX is a collaborative organization: strategy is shaped in partnership with the Managing Director and, at times, the Board. You will bring the ideas, the expertise, and the plan — and work with leadership and colleagues to align and move forward together. There is no dedicated development support staff, so you will need to be as comfortable executing as you are strategizing.

Oversight: Reports to Managing Director

Location: 350PDX office in NE Portland, Oregon

Compensation: This is a part-time, exempt salary position at 20 hours per week. Pay range is $36,057-$40,217 annually, commensurate with experience. For candidates with significant development experience and a demonstrated track record of building or scaling a development program, 350PDX is open to discussing a Director-level designation and compensation commensurate with that experience. 350PDX is committed to growing compensation alongside demonstrated impact. Benefits include cash in lieu of health insurance ($267/month, prorated from full-time rate), generous PTO, and flexible work hours.

Build & Lead the Development Program

  • Design and execute 350PDX's comprehensive annual development plan — setting revenue goals, identifying strategies, and building the systems to achieve them
  • Assess the current state of our donor relationships, CRM data, and giving history and use that foundation to prioritize and sequence your work
  • Establish and refine development processes, templates, and workflows that can scale with the organization

  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level and major donors; conduct ongoing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities

  • Identify and qualify prospects for major gift conversations
  • Serve as the organizational lead for Donor Advised Fund (DAF) relationships and solicitations; identify donors who hold DAFs and develop tailored strategies to encourage DAF grants to 350PDX
  • Ensure 350PDX is registered and visible on major DAF platforms (Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, etc.) and track within the CRM to ensure proper processing and acknowledgment of DAF gifts
  • Research local wealth management firms that encourage client DAFs and identify opportunities to connect with their philanthropic staff

  • Champion a culture of philanthropy across the organization — helping staff and volunteers understand and embrace their role in development as part of 350PDX's mission
  • Ensure development practices are equitable, accessible, and aligned with 350PDX's justice values — bringing a JEDI lens to how we engage donors, build relationships, and tell our story
  • Participate in team meetings, staff retreats, and organizational planning; contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven staff culture

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of nonprofit development experience required, with demonstrated success in individual giving, donor cultivation, and solicitation; 3-5 years preferred for candidates with experience building or growing a development program
