Solar Electrician/ Installation Technician - Job Description

Position Title: Solar Electrician/ Installation Technician
Location: 2108 McDonough St, Joliet, IL 60436
Reports To: Branch Field Supervisor, Daily Basis: Foreman

Hourly Wage: $20 - $30/hour
​​​​​​Overview: At 1Earth Solar, every installer career begins with our Flex Technician role. As a Flex Tech, you’ll get hands-on experience in both areas of our work — rooftop solar installation and electrical. This gives you a full picture of the trade while helping you build real, transferable skills. Once you’ve proven your competency and reliability in the role, you’ll have the opportunity to earn a promotion into a more specialized path, such as Rooftop Lead or Electrician. We’re looking for people who want to learn fast, work hard, and grow into long-term careers with us.

​​​​​​What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 3-5+ Years Experience in Solar, Electrical, Roofing, or other Construction Field

• Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in all weather

• Must be physically capable of lifting 150 lbs as needed

• Willingness to travel between job sites and potentially stay in hotels for 3-5 days as needed

• Flexible schedule (can accommodate longer days depending on job, usually around 50 hours/week)

• Must have phone with HD camera that can be used to take and upload pictures on job site

• Must have reliable transportation to and from the warehouse daily

• Required to have active drivers license, clean record, and reliable daily transportation (company transportation is available, but earned)

• Positive attitude, team-first mentality, reliable, and strong work ethic

What You’ll Do:

• Assist with solar system installations (residential & commercial)

• Perform general labor duties, including site prep, installing, and cleanup

• Support electricians, roof crews, and foremen

• Maintain job site safety and cleanliness

• Perform material runs or equipment pickups as needed

• Help troubleshoot basic system issues alongside senior techs

• Float between crews or job sites based on staffing gaps or demand

• Follow guided instructions from lead

• Remain reliable, punctual, flexible, and carry initiative
