Solar Technician
Solar Technician I Position responsible for basic solar operational and maintenance tasks including troubleshooting, manual mowing, tooling maintenance and inspections, basic preventive maintenance, snow plowing/shoveling, basic lockout/tagout, component replacement, and equipment hauling. Under direct guidance from Solar Technician II and Lead Solar Technician, assist with higher level solar field duties. Essential Functions Maintain all tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in a safe and efficient condition. Provide basic inspection of electrical and mechanical components of solar arrays. Perform basic DC system maintenance and troubleshooting. Perform basic lockout/tagout activities. Perform basic preventive maintenance, corrective work, and component replacement on photovoltaic and inverter systems. Snowplow as required to access components. Perform manual mowing of solar fields. Maintain solar farm maintenance records in the specified work management system across multiple devices. Assist Solar Technician I and the Lead Solar Technician with related duties that support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation, maintenance, and advancement of photovoltaic and Battery Energy Storage System assets. Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Driver's license, valid and in state. Internal bidders will not be required to pass CAST or MAT (Mechanical Aptitude Test) to be an eligible bidder. Solar Technician II In addition to the responsibilities of a Solar Technician I, the Solar Technician II is responsible for AC system troubleshooting and maintenance, Battery Energy Storage System troubleshooting and maintenance, and all lockout/tagout implementation. Essential Functions Maintain all tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in a safe and efficient condition. Provide basic inspection of electrical, mechanical, and electronic troubleshooting for solar arrays and Battery Energy Storage Systems. Perform AC/DC system maintenance and troubleshooting. Perform preventive maintenance, corrective work, and component replacement on Battery Energy Storage and photovoltaic systems. Perform breaker racking and troubleshooting. Implement lockout/tagout. Perform other related duties that support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation, maintenance, and advancement of photovoltaic and Battery Energy Storage System assets. Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Driver's license, valid and in state. If bidding from a higher classification – passing a prequalification test will be required to obtain the Solar Technician II position prior to being eligible to accept and report to the position. If bidding from a lower or equal classification – in addition to passing a prequalification test, individuals must have been in the Solar Technician I role for a minimum of one (1) year prior to being eligible to accept and report to the position. Internal bidders will not be required to pass CAST or MAT (Mechanical Aptitude Test) to be an eligible bidder. Salary Solar Technician I: $35.00 per hour; Solar Technician II: $45.25 per hour.
